Málaga Carnival 2026: Celebration, color, and tradition on the Costa del Sol
The Málaga Carnival is one of the most vibrant celebrations on the city’s cultural calendar, and in 2026 it will once again fill the streets with joy, music, and creativity. This popular festival takes place just before Lent, with a schedule full of parades, performances, and entertainment for all ages.
In 2026, the Málaga Carnival will be held from February 7th to 15th, offering nine days of continuous fun in the historic city center.
During this time, “comparsas,” “chirigotas,” and carnival groups gather in iconic spots like Plaza de la Constitución to perform witty songs, concerts, and contests filled with humor and social satire. The parades along Calle Larios turn this main thoroughfare into a colorful runway of costumes and contagious excitement, while the Cervantes Theatre hosts more structured performances.
The celebration concludes with the traditional “Entierro del Boquerón” (Burial of the Anchovy), a symbolic and playful farewell to Carnival that winds through the city center to La Malagueta beach, where a festive burning and fireworks display take place.
Don't miss it, we’ll be waiting for you!
